Building a component library and structuring design guidelines to bring consistency in the brand.

Developed processes and guidelines to Universe’s design system—from taking inventory of all components to setting guidelines on designs, updates, and usage. The end result of this library provided clarity in design styles and increased design output from the design team.

At the time of this project, new users could only create a Universe account by meeting directly with a staff member. Whether users requested a demo or were ready to start immediately, they were required to schedule an appointment. During this session, Universe staff manually collected campaign details, user information, and preferences for integrating voter data—resulting in a high-touch, time-consuming onboarding process. This high-touch process limited scalability, slowed down user activation, and placed a significant burden on internal teams.
The current system limits scalability and creates a significant strain on staff. This presented a key design opportunity to reduce staff involvement and streamline the process, allowing users to minimize their reliance on one-on-one customer support interactions.

Currently, new users looking to use Universe have to meet with a Universe staff member to spin up a new account. New users either request a demo and start an account or just want to create an account right away. An appointment is made where Universe staff takes in user information, campaign info, and then information on how they want to integrate voter data into their new account.
